This is all the rest of the stuff I wanted to include somewhere on my website, but couldn't think up a clever name for. They are listed here in no particular order.
My housemates Steve and Kristen recently had a son, named Isaac Alexander Michaelis. We've created a photo gallery for their family and friends to see pictures of him. It gets updated whenever we have time to select some new pictures of him, create pages for the pictures, and upload them to the website, which is usually about once a week.
View the gallery here.
When I was living in Dallas, TX a few years ago, I took a number of pictures of the car I had at the time, a 1981 VW Rabbit diesel, in order to sell it. I created a photo gallery of the pictures, and it's now available
on this site.
In late 2002, I ran across a website with some rules for "How to write English". I really loved the language-based humor, so I did some internet searches to find more of the same type of thing, and compiled and edited a long list of them, then put it on my webserver on my PC. At the time, I was a member of the
LangaList, and sent it in for the "Just for Grins" part, and it
was featured. I had a lot of responses at the time, but since the original location has long been down, it's just been dormant for awhile. It's back up now, and available
here.
In early 2005, I got an email from Ron Dowe of the Wayne County Community College District in the Detroit area, asking for permission to reprint the above-mentioned compilation of rules for "How to write English". I didn't feel that my part as a compiler and editor (not an author) gave me the right to grant or withold permission for someone else to publish it, but gave it regardless. After several months had passed, I assumed it had been forgotten about, until in September 2005 I got another email from Ron Dowe with the notification of publication of
"Best Practices" July 2005, Vol. 4, No. 1,, the faculty journal of WCCCD. Sure enough, I'm credited as a guest contributor, with the full text of my compilation on pages 3 and 20. I had trouble downloading the PDF of the publication from their site, so I put it on
my website as well.
Recently, I got an email with some explanations of "Why the English language is so hard to learn" which is a very similar piece of language-based humor. I've
made that available as well.
On October 20, 2004, as I was riding my bicycle less than a mile from my house, I was hit by a car and had a concussion. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and was there for about 2 hours before going home. Several pictures were taken of me, and I wrote the story of the accident in an email to my friends and family, the text of which has been edited and
made into its own page, from which you can also view the pictures.
I recently updated my
resume, and made it available on my website, so I thought I'd link to it from here.
On August 6 and 7 of 2005, I rode in the Oregon MS 150 Bike Tour. I sent a letter to many friends and family asking for their support, and put that letter
here on my website, along with more information about it for those who are curious.
Kristen Michaelis helped me by editing the MS 150 letter I sent to make it sound better, and since she's starting a copywriting business she asked me to put a link to
her site on my page to help her site show up on Google. So, just in case putting more links helps your page rank in Google,
here you go for a third time, Kristen.
